A real need in the Reading area
South Asian families around Mt Penn had nowhere nearby to find authentic pantry staples — the nearest source was a long drive toward Philadelphia. Naan Stop opened to fix that, stocking the chutneys, basmati varieties, and spice blends that local shelves simply didn't carry.
The shelves came first
Every item was chosen deliberately — not the biggest selection, but the right one. Customers kept coming back because the owners actually knew what each product was for.
Then came the café
It turned out people didn't just want the ingredients — they wanted the food itself. So the café opened, cooking dishes built from the very same products lining the shelves just steps away.
A cultural bridge in a Pennsylvania borough
Someone walks in for cumin seeds and ends up sitting down to a full biryani lunch — that's Naan Stop. There's genuinely nothing else like it in the region.
